What to Expect
What are your worship services like?
During the Program/School year, we offer two worship services every Sunday morning: 8:15am & 10:45am.
The best way to enter the building is through the double glass doors, located on Stewart Avenue.
Our 8:15am service is a traditional service. We sing hymns and follow the Lutheran liturgy out of the Evangelical Lutheran Worship hymnal.
Our 10:45am service alternates between traditional and contemporary worship. On contemporary worship Sundays (the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month), we have a guitarist and drummer who lead the music of the service, while the liturgy remains the same as the traditional services.
We offer a relaxed atmosphere where everyone is welcome, regardless of age, race, sexuality, gender, or marital status. There is a place for you here.
** Please note that we are currently in our Summer Worship Schedule. Which means we hold just one service at 9:30am and each week we alternate between our Traditional and Contemporary worship styles.
What should i wear?
At Stewart Avenue, you will find people dressed in various ways for worship. You will likely see people wearing everything from a suit and tie to jeans and their best Steelers jersey! The bottom line is, we want you to be comfortable as you are here. No matter how you show up, we’ll be glad to see you!
We celebrate Holy Communion at both services every Sunday. We welcome all to the table to receive Communion. It doesn’t matter if you are Lutheran, or haven’t been to church in years. We believe that the Lord’s Table is open to all people with no exceptions! We also celebrate Communion with gluten-free crackers, so that everyone can receive the same elements!
We typically offer a First Communion class for our young people when they are in 5th grade, with classes offered in October. However, if your child has already received their First Communion, they are more than welcome to continue receiving it!
If you have never received communion before or are uncomfortable doing so, you are more than welcome to come forward for a blessing.
If you are interested in taking Communion, but would like to know more about it first, feel free to talk with Pastor Beth!
How do i join?
We hope that you truly feel welcomed and at home at Stewart Avenue! If you would like to become a member here, get in touch with Pastor Beth!
