Eight Faith Factors

1). Faith was integrated into their family's identity AND practice. Mom and Dad were church going folks who lived
their faith in public and private.

2). They had three or more adult mentors of vital faith - a grandparent, a teacher, a neighbor. These adults
were not aggressive nor overbearing but rather calm role models for the faith.

3). The people who were active in their early adult years in the faith had given three or more months service in t
he name of Jesus as young people. This may have been as camp counselors, Honduras travelers,
soup kitchen servers, etc.

4) .These people were apprenticed early into leadership in their church, i.e., as readers, as ushers,
as council members and committee members.

5). As youth in their church they were valued, not ignored or just tolerated. Their music, language,
and struggles were honored.

6). Their church provided them with an excellent senior high/ young adult ministry. Their church's budget
probably reflected this commitment.

7). They had Christian friends and were encouraged in the faith by these peers. This is not to say
they didn't have friends outside the faith but they did have them within the community of faith.

8) They found support from their church community during a personal crisis. This may have been at the time
of a family death, their parent's divorce or any number of personal upheavals.
