A man shows up at a village, lights a fire and begins to boil a rock.  The villagers ask him
 what he's doing.  He replies that it's a magic stone and creates the most marvelous soup.  The villagers scoff, but stick around to watch. 
And as they get impatient - "Is it ready yet? 
Is it ready?"  -
the man keeps telling them "it just needs a little more garnish" - and the villagers supply it. 
"Do potatoes go well with stone soup?"  "Carrots, peas, tomatoes, any vegetable can be added."

Eventually, the man declares the soup is ready and indeed it tastes wonderful.  the 
villagers beg the man to sell the stone, but he declines.  So he packs up his things and is on his way. 

The moral to this story is that by working together, with everyone contributing what they can, a greater good is achieved.

On Sunday February 21, the SAELC version of "Stone Soup" will be served in the Sunday School Room next to the kitchen.  If you choose, drop off a vegetable (frozen, fresh or canned)  to the kitchen prior to 10:45 worship service.

After worship join us for a bowl of soup and place a donation in the basket for World Hunger.
